‘Chainsaw Man: Assassins Arc’ Anime Trailer Teases The Arrival Of The Darkness Devil

The Chainsaw Man anime has received a new trailer, giving a first look at its adaptation of the manga’s Assassin Arc, including the ruthless master assassin, Santa Claus, and several hints at the arrival of the Darkness Devil, one of the most dangerous foes from the manga.

As reported by Crunchyroll, the latest trailer was shown during the MAPPA 15th Anniversary Lineup Reveal, and continues Chainsaw Man’s story following the events of the 2025 movie, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc. While it’s currently unknown if the next anime chapter would be a movie or a series, it will follow main protagonist Denji as he is hunted down by a group of international assassins in pursuit of his heart, including Santa Claus, the arc’s main antagonist.

But perhaps the most exciting reveal from the trailer was well-hidden in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shot near the end (at its 1:23 mark), which sees a dark landscape filled with countless doors. Fans from the manga will recognise this as Hell, a place where the characters are transported to during an intense fight with Santa Claus and her dolls. In the manga, this scene was followed shortly by the arrival of perhaps one of the most dangerous foes of the manga, the Darkness Devil, a violent and horrifying being of immense power. Its appearance in the manga was an extremely violent encounter, so it will be interesting to see how the anime will bring that scene to life.

Tatsuya Yoshihara returns to direct Chainsaw Man: Assassins Arc following his work on the movie, with its screenplay written by Hiroshi Seko. Kazutaka Sugiyama is in charge of character designs, with Kensuke Ushio composing the music. The Chainsaw Man manga was written by Tatsuki Fujimoto in 2018, and spanned two arcs from December 2018 to March 2026, with a 12-episode anime television series adaptation produced by MAPPA airing in 2022.

Chainsaw Man follows the story of Denji, an impoverished teenager who enters a contract with Pochita, the dog-like Chainsaw Devil, allowing him to transform parts of his body into chainsaws. Denji then joins the Public Safety Devil Hunters, a government agency focused on combating Devils whenever they become a threat to Japan.
