Samsung Adds AirDrop Support For Galaxy Devices, Starting With S26 Series

The Android-iOS divide is no longer insurmountable, with OPPO enabling cross-platform transfer through its O Plus Connect app, and Google bringing AirDrop support to the Pixel 10 series. Samsung is next to join the Apple compatibility club, as the most recent Quick Share update will allow its Galaxy lineup to share photos and files with its iPhone and Mac counterparts.

The feature is now available on the Galaxy S26 phones in South Korea, with plans to launch in other regions, including the US, Latin America, Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan. The tech giant also intends to roll it out to older Samsung offerings in the future, though exact models and a timeline have yet to be announced.

To send files to an iOS device via Quick Share, activate the toggle for “Share with Apple devices” in the settings, while Apple users will have to set their device’s AirDrop settings to Everyone. It’s similar to how AirDrop support works on the Pixel 10 phones, which was introduced in a software update last year.

Until recently, AirDrop was used exclusively between Apple products. Following its debut on the Galaxy S20 in 2020, Samsung’s Quick Share merged with Google’s Nearby Share four years later, bringing it to non-Samsung Android devices, Chrome OS, and Windows PCs. Later this month, the OPPO Find X9 series will also receive a software update that integrates with AirDrop, removing the need for the O Plus Connect app.
