‘Starfield’ Lands Long-Awaited Spaceflight Update, ‘Terran Armada’ DLC & PS5 Release In Apr

Bethesda has set its sights on the stars once again, as it has announced the long-awaited updates to is spacefairing RPG Starfield, with the 2023 game receiving tons of free content updates, alongside a story DLC and PS5 release on 7 April 2026.

Announced via a post on the game’s website, the updates are headlined by the new “Terran Armada” paid story DLC, an expansion which adds a new questline to “shape the future of humanity in space”, more enemies to dispatch, locations to explore, and loot to grab. The DLC will cost US$9.99, and is free for owners of Starfield’s Premium Edition.

Paid stuff aside, there’s also a host of free content heading to the game on the same day, dubbed the “Free Lanes” update. This massive content drop aims to address one of the game’s biggest current letdowns, the limited options for space travel, by adding “Cruise Mode”, which allows players to finally fly freely between planets in a star system.

Additionally, “Free Lanes” will also include other free content, including new locations, enemy modifiers, crew members, outpost improvements, an additional resource named X-Tech used for upgrades, and the new Moon Jumper land vehicle. Players will also be able to bring a limited number of items into their New Game+.

Finally, Starfield is also figuratively travelling to another galaxy with its launch on the PS5, bringing console-specific features such as adaptive trigger, lightbar and touchpad control support, alongside PS5 Pro enhancements.

With these additions, Starfield is shaping up to be the “most complete version” yet, breathing new life once again to the now three-year-old title, which has been constantly receiving fresh content drops and updates since release, such as the previous “Shattered Space” DLC in late 2024.

Starfield’s “Terran Armada” DLC, “Free Lanes” update, and PS5 release will all drop on 7 April 2026.
