‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Trailer Teases Grim Threat For Emma Myers’ Enid

With a new season comes new woes, and it all boils down to a central focus in Wednesday Season 2. The latest trailer for the highly anticipated sequel sees Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams as a celebrated, albeit reluctant, hero of Nevermore Academy, but her job is far from done.

The stakes are higher than ever, too — the character now has to rescue her roommate and best friend, Enid (Emma Myers, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder), from impending doom. “I know what those tears mean. What do you see?” asks Wednesday’s mother, Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones, No Reservations) in the trailer, after witnessing black tears streaking down Wednesday’s face.

“Enid dies and it’s all my fault,” the younger Addams says later, before the scene cuts to a vision of her standing in a graveyard. As a tombstone appears with “In memory of Enid Sinclair”, Wednesday finds Enid’s hands wrapped around her throat and shouting, “I died because of you!”, reinforcing her commitment to save Enid, “or die trying”.

The macabre tone is sprinkled amid lighter, slice-of-life moments, including the character’s interaction with Principal Dort (Steve Buscemi, Reservoir Dogs), her attempts to grapple with her newfound popularity, and the introduction of a new group of fangirls.

“Wednesday Addams, returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await. This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem,” reads the official logline for Wednesday Season 2. “Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery.”

The sophomore season will mark the return of Tim Burton (Beetlejuice, Corpse Bride) in the director’s chair, with Ortega also serving as producer on the project. Alongside Ortega, Myers, and Zeta-Jones, returning series regulars include Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene, Georgie Farmer as Ajax, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Deputy Santiago. Joining them are notable new additions like Buscemi, Billie Piper, Lady Gaga, and Noah B. Taylor.
