Netflix’s ‘Devil May Cry’ Animated Series SSScores Action-Packed Trailer And Apr 2025 Release

Dante is back in style — and with all his swagger to boot. The first trailer for Netflix‘s animated Devil May Cry adaptation has dropped, offering an exciting glimpse of the dashing demon hunter in action, as he flaunts his sword skills and gunplay.

Announced as part of the streamer’s Geeked Week 2024, it retains the over-the-top, stylish flair that has made the Capcom series so beloved. Fans can expect plenty of high-octane sequences, from motorcycle chases to dual-wielding pistol shooting, as well as nods to the games, such as hiding guns in pizza boxes and of course, Dante’s iconic “Jackpot” catchphrase.

The Devil May Cry show will hit Netflix in April 2025, with Adi Shankar, who previously worked on Castlevania and Captain Laserhawk, at the helm. Studio Mir (The Legend of Korra, X-Men ’97) is responsible for the animation, while Alex Larsen (Captain Laserhawk) is penning the script alongside Shankar.

“Sinister forces are at play at the portal between the human and demon realms. In the middle of it all is Dante, an orphaned demon hunter for hire, unaware that the fate of both worlds hangs around his neck,” reads Tudum’s description of the story.

Created by Hideki Kamiya, the Devil May Cry games follow Dante, a demon hunter with supernatural abilities, as he battles powerful demons and other evil forces. The first entry was released in 2001, introducing players to an urban fantasy world and Vergil, Dante’s brother. In Devil May Cry 4, Nero took over the reins as the protagonist, featuring a new and distinct play style.

As for Shankar, a hectic time lies ahead. In addition to the adaptation, he’s also attached to upcoming Assassin’s Creed, PUBG and Hyper Light Drifter projects, alongside a remake of the Korean thriller I Saw the Devil.
