Ever since creating hit game The Last of Us, studio Naughty Dog has become known for the title, which eclipsed most of each other games, and even got a live-action TV series at HBO. But recognition can be a double-edged sword, as the studio attempts to create new original projects.
“I promise you, we will not be ‘The Last of Us’ studio forever,” said creator Neil Druckmann in an interview with LA Times, in which he teased that “multiple single-player projects” were in the works, following a Sony interview in which Druckmann had high hopes for his next game, which
While there could be a potential Part III in the works, Druckmann previously said that it would only be done if if “[the team] can come up with a compelling story that has this universal message and statement about love.”
“We create experiences that are steeped in story and character, especially relationships,” said Druckmann. “The stories have some sort of philosophical core that everything is going to revolve around and feed into.”
Whether Naughty Dog decides to make the final chapter of The Last of Us or create a new game franchise, the future looks bright for the studio.
