First Looks: Joel And Ellie Return In ‘The Last Of Us’ Season 2

Ever since The Last of Us premiered its first season back in 2023, the series has been well-received by fans, who have been eagerly anticipating Season 2, which boasts a stacked cast roster. Filming began in British Columbia in February 2024, with Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian), who plays Joel Miller, wrapping up his scenes just a month in. It looks like we’ll have plenty of flashback scenes in-between the time skip that Season 2, which follows The Last of Us: Part II will have, fleshing out the five-year gap. But what we haven’t seen is post-time skip Ellie’s look, which the show is probably saving for a trailer reveal.

From the lights in the scene, it’s likely that Joel’s appearance here is during the Jackson party, when he attempts to be a protective father to Ellie, despite their estranged relationship. Pascal’s Joel looks strikingly similar to the way he looks in the games, though Pascal pulls it off effortlessly.
