Zack Synder’s ‘Rebel Moon’ At Netflix To Get RPG Adaptation

When we see Zack Snyder, we think of film and movies, but the director is trying to do more than that, it would appear. He is currently working on his Netflix exclusive, Rebel Moon, which is also supposedly getting a video game RPG that has a “ridiculous scale.”

“I mean, the one thing that I’m really having a really good time with is — and I don’t even know if I’m supposed to talk about it — this RPG that we’re doing that is just literally insane, and so immersive, and so intense, and so huge, and like, we talked about how we would do the game and I was like, we just said ‘let’s go,’” said Snyder on The Nerd Queens podcast about the supposed Rebel Moon game.

For a film that hasn’t even seen the light of day, this is a bold claim. For now, there are no official details beyond what Snyder said. No developer or publisher has come forward to share that they are part of the project, and of course, there is no release window or platform either.

However, that has not stopped the Rebel Moon director from aiming high.

“They were like, we can do it at this scale…or we can do it at like, ridiculous scale,” he added. “I was like, well, ridiculous scale is clearly the scale that we’re doing it at. And they were like, ‘well it’s gonna take so much time because… we’ve gotta do all these brain dumps, you’ve gotta tell us everything in the universe’…and I was like, ‘that’s fine’, happy to do it, let’s go all the way.”

Originally positioned as a Star Wars movie following Episode VI – Return of the Jedi in a pitch to Lucasfilm, Snyder continued to work on Rebel Moon as his own sci-fi universe. Starring Sofia Boutella from The Mummy, it follows the residents of a peaceful colony under threat from the armies of the tyrant Balisarius.
