WWDC 2023: Apple’s 15-inch MacBook Air M2 Is World’s Thinnest 15-inch Laptop

Apple’s range of MacBook devices has always been known for their slim and lightweight build, so it only makes sense that the tech giant is sticking to the formula with its latest addition to the family: the 15-inch MacBook Air M2. Announced at WWDC 2023, it’s set to make its mark as the world’s thinnest 15-inch laptop, complete with all the features of its existing models.

Weighing in at 1.5kg and measuring 11.5mm thin, the device is equipped with Apple’s in-house M2 chip, as well as a 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display. It offers an 18-hour battery life, up to 24GB of RAM and 2TB of storage, and packs in a six-speaker sound system that delivers upgraded audio immersion.

The new model also sports two USB-C Thunderbolt ports, a MagSafe charging connector, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. According to Apple, it will be 12 times faster than previous Intel MacBook Air iterations, and carries twice the processing power and brightness of competing 15-inch Windows laptops.

The 15-inch MacBook Air M2 starts at S$1,899, and is available to order on the official Apple Store from 7 June in four colourways â€“ midnight, starlight, silver, and space grey. It joins the current 13-inch and 16-inch MacBook Air offerings, and should serve as a convenient middle ground between the two, especially for users who want a larger screen, but don’t need the extra horsepower and cost of the 14-inch and 16-inch Pro line-up.
