‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Smashes Records With 50 Million Views In 4 Days

Netflix’sWednesday Season 2 has finally arrived, and the numbers are as darkly dazzling as the show’s gothic heroine.

The first half of Season 2, which premiered on Netflix on 6 August, racked up an astonishing 50 million views within its first four days, according to the streaming platform. While that’s just shy of Season 1’s 50.1 million views for the entire season, it still cements Wednesday as one of Netflix’s most formidable hits.

The first season of the Addams Family spinoff remains Netflix’s No. 1 English-language TV series ever, but Season 2 has now officially claimed the No. 2 spot. Since its debut, the new season has dominated the streaming charts, ranking first in 91 countries. That feat sets a new record as the English-language TV show to rank first in the most countries in its first week.

With its first season originally premiering in November 2022, Wednesday quickly became a cultural phenomenon. Led by Jenna Ortega’s standout performance in the title role, the debut season scored four Emmy wins and two Golden Globe nominations. Its mix of macabre humour, supernatural mystery, and teen drama struck a chord with audiences worldwide.

Wednesday Season 2 was officially announced in January 2023, sparking a long wait for fans. The second half of Season 2, which will add four more episodes, is set to premiere on 3 September. For fans eager for even more ghoulish adventures at Nevermore Academy, Netflix has already confirmed a third season. Meanwhile, the creators of Wednesday are already planning an Addams Family animated reboot, which will certainly keep fans well-fed.
