‘Watch Dogs’ Video Game Live-Action Film Has Lead And Director

Ubisoft will add Watch Dogs to its video game to live action adaptation film roster, as breakout star Sophie Wilde (Talk to Me) is currently in talks to be the film’s lead. French filmmaker Mathieu Turi (The Deep Dark) will helm the film, and Christie LeBlanc (Oxygen) serves as the film’s screenwriter.

No plot details have currently surfaced, with the only news being announced that it would take place in the Watch Dogs universe. The game franchise is set in a series of cities across the world, following DedSec, an organization of hackers dedicated to exposing corrupt corporations, and disapprove of Blume Corporation’s digital surveillance over the city.

Its latest game, Watch Dogs: Legion, shifted the focus to DedSec’s attempts to liberate a dystopian London with multiple protagonists. A live-action adaptation would have plenty of room to develop Watch Dogs’ expansive world, and has Chicago, San Francisco, and London to explore.

Ubisoft currently has an Assassin’s Creed Netflix series in the works in addition to Watch Dogs, though it’ll likely be a while before we hear more news on the newly-announced film.
