Vin Diesel Wants ‘Fast & Furious’ Sequels To Return To Street Racing & Hobbs Reunion

As the famous line in the Fast & Furious franchise goes, “There is always room for family”. This statement rings particularly true this Thanksgiving, as series lead Vin Diesel has taken to social media to celebrate the holiday while expressing hopes for a reunion with fellow castmate Dwayne Johnson for Fast X: Part 2 and a return to the series’ street racing roots.

In a series of Instagram posts, Diesel gave fans a much-anticipated update on the upcoming film, alluding to the fact that not everything was fine and dandy behind the scenes and hinting at clashing opinions from involved parties on how best to move the series forward.

From his post, it’s clear that that star is troubled by the current conflict between the various studios — hardly surprising, considering how massive the IP has become over the years, with a growing pool of parties involved in its production. Diesel also expressed the desire to “get back to real street racing [and] practical stunts”, a sentiment echoed by his previous posts that hints at some practical car stunts in the upcoming film, the first step in a hopeful return to form for the series.

The post also reveals Vin Diesel’s hopes for a “reunion of that beautiful brotherhood”, possibly pointing to a resolution of the long-running feud between him and Johnson, serving as a sort of olive branch to end the conflict that started back in August 2016 during the filming of the eighth film in the series, The Fate of the Furious.

While this might get fans excited to see the return of Johnson’s character Luke Hobbs, who was featured briefly in a post-credit scene in 2023’s Fast X, it may be difficult for the action star to reprise his role with his busy schedule. Currently, he’s involved in the filming of the live-action Moana film for Disney.

With the implied chaos going on behind the scenes, especially pertinent considering the franchise’s 25th anniversary inching ever closer in 2026, only time will tell if Fast X: Part 2 can overcome its challenges and cross the finish line to clinch a triumphant victory.
