‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ Premiere Screening Brings Final Scare To Over 140 Fans

Every story comes to an end, and for the Conjuring franchise, the journey of real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren comes to a chilling on-screen conclusion with The Conjuring: Last Rites, the final chapter in the current phase of the horror franchise.

The latest film marks the return of Patrick Wilson (Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom) and Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel), reprising their roles as the Warrens as they confront their greatest adversary yet, a powerful demon they had previously encountered at the beginning of their paranormal investigation career. Over 140 lucky attendees were able to witness this spine-chilling final chapter at Geek Culture’s premiere screening on 2 September, held at Golden Village Bugis+ in conjunction with Warner Bros. Singapore.

A complimentary poster and tote bag set was given out as keepsakes of the Warrens’ legacy, but the anticipation over the horrors and jump scares to come were at an all-time high even before the lights dimmed, with fans treated to in-hall activities for a chance to walk away with five limited edition The Conjuring: Last Rites T-shirts.

These, coincidentally, also doubled up as an effective object to cower behind, as what followed was 175 minutes of adrenaline and suspense that kept audiences on the edge of their seat, accompanied by synchronised gasps, mutters of ‘oh no’, and other forms of reactions.

Based on the Smurl haunting, a famous real-world paranormal event centred around the Smurl household between 1974 and 1989, The Conjuring: Last Rites not only marks the fourth and final film in the Conjuring franchise and the sequel to 2021’s The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, but also the ninth title in the overall The Conjuring Universe, with Michael Chaves returning as its director, alongside James Wan and Peter Safran as its producers.

The Conjuring: Last Rites opens in cinemas in Singapore on 4 September.
