‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Marks Netflix’s Biggest English-Language Series Debut With 59.6M Views

The final season of Netflix’s horror series Stranger Things has launched to record-breaking viewership figures, achieving 59.6 million views within just five days of streaming and becoming the platform’s biggest English-language debut ever.

As reported by Variety, this achievement tops the already impressive premiere viewership of Stranger Things Season 4, which launched in 2022 with 287 million hours watched – the figure previously used by the streamer to rank viewership – which roughly translates to around 22 million views. Season 5 also ranks third in Netflix’s overall premiere-week viewership charts, coming behind the second and third seasons of the Korean death game series Squid Game.

This isn’t the only Netflix record broken by the hit series, as one week prior to the launch of Stranger Things Season 5, fan anticipation led to all four previous seasons of the show hitting the streamer’s Top 10 charts, marking the first time the chart has seen four seasons of the same show at once.

These record-breaking figures mark just the start of Season 5’s journey, as only the first four episodes of the season have been released on the streamer so far, with three more debuting on 25 December 2025, followed by a massive 2 hours and 5 minutes-long finale, which is set to launch not just on Netflix, but in 500 theaters across the United States and Canada starting from 31 December 2025.

With so much hype surrounding the concluding chapter of the long-running series, Stranger Things is bound to remain on the streamer’s top charts for some time to come, and might even grow to become Netflix’s most popular English-language TV titles of all time. One thing’s for sure, the town of Hawkins is about to get a whole lot more crowded.

The first four episodes of Stranger Things Season 5 are now available on Netflix, with episodes five to seven premiering on 25 December 2025, followed by its finale on 31 December 2025.
