‘Stellar Blade’ x ‘Nier: Automata’ Crossover Arrives On 20 November

Fans of Stellar Blade are about to get a brand new reason to jump back into the flashy action title — for the plot, of course. The title will receive its much-anticipated crossover downloadable content with 2017’s Nier: Automata next week on 20 November.

On a PlayStation Blog post, game developer Shift Up stated that the upcoming DLC was “marked by mutual respect and creativity” between Stellar Blade director Kim Hyung Tae and Nier: Automata director Yoko Taro, adding that the latter title was a major inspiration for the game.

The paid DLC consists of costumes inspired by Nier: Automata, with the introduction of Emil’s shop (a well-known character from the game) making “a surprise appearance in the world of Stellar Blade where eleven different collaboration-special items will be available. Items that intertwine the best of both games, leading you to a more enriched world.”

These additions include a 2B and A2 outfit for Eve, alongside a more risque look inspired by the game. Eve’s companions Adam and Lily get some love too, with Nier-inspired outfits for both, such as an Emil helmet for Adam, with an outfit for Eve’s drone being by far the most impressive addition, giving it an appearance akin to 2B’s Pod 042 companion.

Along with the crossover content, the game will also receive a free update adding a photo mode to the game, allowing players to pose characters in-game to capture memorable moments, selecting between a choice of filters, poses and outfits to frame the perfect shot.

Four new costumes will also be added, alongside a new “Symbol of Legacy” earring accessory, which, when equipped, will apply Eve’s fusion state skin when entering Tachy Mode. Small quality-of-life features will also be included, such as the ability to remove Eve’s ponytail via a menu option and lip-sync support for six additional languages (French, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, and Latin American Spanish).

This announcement follows the game’s impressive debut on the PlayStation 5 in April this year, surpassing 1 million copies sold in less than three months. Apart from the upcoming DLC, the studio also has plans for a paid expansion and a sequel, although no details have been shared so far. The Stellar Blade x Nier: Automata crossover DLC launches on 20 November 2024.
