Star Trek: Picard is going on an extended mission. CBS All Access has given the green light for a second season before its first season debuts next month on January 23, 2020.
According to Deadline, the second season will have 10-episodes and will start production as early as next spring.
Patrick Stewart will return for Season 2 to continue playing his role as Captain Picard. On the other hand, current showrunner Michael Chabon will not be returning as he will be producing Kavalier & Clay.
Star Trek: Picard is one of the many Star Trek series that CBS plans to roll out as part of its Star Trek TV universe. Upcoming shows include Star Trek: Lower Decks and a Nickelodeon animated series. A drama centred on Michelle Yeoh’s character, Captain Philippa Georgiou from Star Trek: Discovery is also currently in the works.
