You know you’ve done something good when the Internet flocks over to just a mere logo of an upcoming product. If there’s anyone who can do marketing so well, it’s Sony PlayStation.
Within just 48 hours of the PlayStation 5 logo appearing at Sony’s press conference at CES 2020, the gaming community went wild at every mention of the PS5 on Sony’s or PlayStation’s social media. So when it got posted up on Instagram, it garnered a whopping 5 million likes.
According to Video Games Chronicle, this post is now the most-liked video game-related post ever, topping last year’s post done by Fortnite for their Avengers: Endgame crossover, which amassed 2.7 million likes.
Interestingly, despite PlayStation’s record-breaking PS5 post, Fortnite still dominates the Instagram scene, with over 150 posts receiving over a million likes each.
In any case, the pressure is on Sony PlayStation to deliver a superb console that can top its sales-record-breaking predecessor when it releases on Holiday 2020.
