**SPOILERS AHEAD!!!! PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK**
In a move that can rival even the greats like the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise has revealed character after character with each iteration — Tails first, followed by Knuckles, and now Shadow the Hedgehog. It’s no surprise then, that fans were expecting the reveal of a rather overlooked member of the main Sonic team in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and when she finally showed up, boy was it epic.
In the film’s first post-credits scene, Sonic, who participated in a race between Knuckles and Tails at the end of the movie, overshoots the finish line by a country mile, literally, and ends up alone in the New York state park. Only, he’s not quite as alone as he thought, as a familiar metal silhouette emerges from the trees — that of Metal Sonic, one of the blue blur’s most iconic foes (apart from Eggman, of course) that has appeared in 11 games to date.

This was far from the biggest surprise, though. Just as Sonic is about to be outmatched by an army of Metal Sonics, he is saved by a hooded figure wielding a massive hammer, swiftly dispatching the robotic hedgehogs one by one. When the dust settled, it’s revealed to be none other than Amy Rose, one of Sonic’s greatest ally and probably the biggest Sonic fan of all.
Who is Amy Rose?

Fans will no doubt be familiar with the pink hedgehog but for the uninitiated, Amy Rose is one of the core characters of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. She’s most often referred to as Sonic’s girlfriend, and for good reason, as she is known for having a massive crush on our blue hero since they first met on Little Planet in the 1993 platforming adventure Sonic CD.
Amy is known for loving all things mystical, especially fortune-telling and tarot cards, which directly ties into how she initially met Sonic. Using her tarot cards, she predicted that she would have a “destined” encounter with Sonic on Little Planet, which led her to travel there and eventually fulfil her prediction, falling wildly in love with Sonic in the process. Although Sonic rejects her advances at first, he does start to open up to her through the events of the Sonic Adventure games, but the two have never entered any form of long-term relationship, not yet anyway.

A capable fighter in her own right, Amy wields her trademark weapon, the Piko Piko Hammer, which she can summon at will. The huge weapon, coupled with her sometimes fiery temper, makes her a formidable force to be reckoned with, with combat skills that can rival Sonic and even Knuckles. She also possesses Color Powers, gained from special variants of the Hyper-go-on force obtained from Wisps, which she uses to transform into different forms like a drill or laser.
With the introduction of Amy, the core cast of heroes is finally complete for Sonic the Hedgehog 4 in 2027. Yes, this also includes Shadow, who is revealed to have survived the explosion of the Eclipse Canon at the end of the film, as he is seen (via a shot of his iconic boots) picking up his Inhibitor Rings, which were removed prior to his supposed sacrifice.
With that, our main roster of heroes, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow and now Amy are set to reunite to face an undoubtedly larger threat in the fourth movie. Which character is set to make an appearance then, we wonder? Fingers crossed for Rouge the Bat.
