We finally have an update on the Sonic the Hedgehog sequel as Paramount has announced that the movie will be hitting theatres on 8 April 2022.
The voice behind the blue hedgehog, Ben Schwarts, has also confirmed on his Twitter that the sequel will be released in two years time, though no other details were revealed beyond that.
Despite its rocky beginning, Sonic the Hedgehog would have gone on to gross over US$100 million in the global box office, making it one of the few video game adaptations to successfully make it to the silver screen, alongside Detective Pikachu.
The sequel will feature the same filmmaking team behind it, with Jeff Fowler returning as director, and Casey and Josh Miller back to pen the script. With Schwartz Twitter post, we suppose we can expect him to be back as the voice of Sonic.
Aside from Sonic the Hedgehog 2, other movies with new release dates include Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick.
