She-Hulk Finds Its Lead Writer With Rick And Morty’s Jessica Gao

Emmy-award winning writer Jessica Gao, who is best known for her work on Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty has been hired to develop and lead the writing team for She-Hulk, a series from Marvel Studios which will be released on their video streaming platform Disney+.

Jessica Gao joined Rick and Morty for its third season where she helped to work on six episodes as executive editor and wrote the much-acclaimed episode Pickle Rick, which was the episode to nab her the “Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program” in 2018. Other shows that she has worked on include The Might B!, Robot Chicken, and Silicon Valley.

Gao’s involvement with the show means that She-Hulk might be more comedic than we were expecting since Gao is best known for her comedic works.

During D23, Kevin Feige has also confirmed that the series will somewhat follow the comic books, with the She-Hulk in question being Jennifer Walters, a lawyer and Bruce Banner’s cousin. According to the comics, Walters is able to retain her personality and sharp wit when in her She-Hulk form, which later in the comics becomes a permanent form.

Not much else is known about the upcoming TV series but Feige has mentioned about how excited the team at Marvel is for fans to meet her once She-Hulk is released on Disney+.

“You will meet her in her Disney+ series and then you will see her in our films,” he announced in D23. “It is incredibly exciting for us.”
