Lumon Industries is staying in business. Following the record-breaking release of its second season, Severance has officially been renewed for season 3 on Apple TV+. The series, which has emerged as a flagship title for the platform, now holds the distinction of being its most-watched show to date, overtaking previous chart-topper Ted Lasso. Its mix of corporate dystopia, sci-fi mystery, and psychological drama has kept viewers hooked — and they’ll be getting more answers, or perhaps more questions, soon.
Created by Dan Erickson and executive produced and directed by Ben Stiller, Severance centers on employees at Lumon who undergo a surgical procedure that splits their consciousness into two: one for work, and one for their personal life. Season 1 ended with a breakout of sorts, with the innies briefly gaining access to the outside world and beginning to question the true nature of their lives. Season 2 expanded Lumon’s operations, including the mysterious testing floor and the secrets surrounding Mark, Helly, and Gemma.
Apple confirmed the renewal shortly after the season 2 finale aired, a strategic move that signals confidence in the show’s long-term potential. While it’s unclear what specific storylines will be picked up in the next chapter, unresolved threads include the fate of Helly, Mark’s ongoing connection to Gemma, and the full scope of Lumon’s control.
“I couldn’t be more excited to get back to work with Ben, Dan, the incredible cast & crew, Apple and the whole Severance team,” said star and executive producer Adam Scott. “Oh hey also – not a huge deal – but if you see my innie, please don’t mention any of this to him. Thanks.”
“The idea of getting to make more Severance with the greatest cast and crew on Earth is more thrilling to me than all the world’s finger traps combined,” said creator, writer and executive producer Dan Erickson. “I can’t wait to continue spreading woe, frolic, dread and malice with these truly incredible people.”

“What Ben, Dan, Adam and the talented cast and crew behind Severance have brought to the screen is undeniable magic,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+. “We’re so proud to be the home for this brilliant series and look forward to audiences experiencing what’s in store for season 3.”
Cast members such as Patricia Arquette, Tramell Tillman, Dichen Lachman, and Christopher Walken are expected to return alongside Scott, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, and John Turturro. As with prior seasons, filming and release details remain tightly under wraps. Given the production delays between season 1 and 2, fans may have to wait — but with season 3 officially on the horizon, at least they know they’re going back to work.
