Samsung Watch 5 Pro And Galaxy Buds Pro 2 Make Workouts Intuitive & Weightless

The rise of the smartwatch market has fielded increased interest in health and wellness, so it’s only natural for Samsung to keep that going with its Galaxy Watch 5 series and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. During August’s Samsung Unpacked 2022 event, the industry giant unveiled its upgraded line of wearable devices, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4.

The newest addition to the Galaxy Watch portfolio, the Watch 5 Pro is created for outdoor enthusiasts in mind. It comes equipped with enhanced Sapphire Crystal that better resists any wear and tear, a durable titanium casing, and an all-new D-Buckle Sport Band for rugged durability. Battery performance has been improved from its predecessor, packing in 590mAh to last users through a full day.

With a 45mm watch face, the device is 60 percent bigger than the Galaxy Watch 4, but those with smaller wrists can turn to its smaller sibling, the Galaxy Watch 5, instead. Available in either 40mm or 44mm, it offers a host of features such as blood pressure and ECG monitoring, body composition calculations for fat percentage, skeleton muscle, and the like, and even real-time recovery tracking after a workout.

For the first time ever, both smartwatch versions will welcome the all-new GPX feature, which allows users to record and share their trails on the Samsung Health app, download hiking and cycling routes, and head back the same way with the Track Back function. The Galaxy Watch 5 boasts a smaller battery (284mAh for 40mm and 410mAh for 44mm), but should still offer sufficient power for a full day’s use.

Fitness and wellness go hand-in-hand together, and here, sleep quality is the focus. The Galaxy 5 Watch series is home to a series of sleep monitoring features, including snore detection, sleep habits analysis, and controlling light, air-conditioning, and television settings for an ideal sleep environment.

Accompanying the smartwatch on this journey to better well-being is the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. The new top-of-the-line earbuds are now 15 percent smaller, making them a viable companion for working out or playing sports. Apart from improved active noise cancellation (ANC), there will be 24-bit audio support, a five-hour battery life with ANC turned on, and an Auto Switch function that allows for seamless switching between paired devices as well.

Similar to Apple’s Find My iPhone feature, Samsung’s own SmartThings Find makes locating the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro more convenient, whether they’re inside the holding case or not. Other notable points include an IPX7 water resistance, a Voice Detect feature, and a combined battery life of 18 hours with the case when ANC is on. Turn it off, and users can expect 29 hours of use — on paper, at least.

The Galaxy Watch 5 line-up and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro will be available from 2 September, with pre-orders commencing online starting today, 10 August 2022. The 44mm smartwatch will retail for S$448 and S$548 for the Bluetooth and LTE versions respectively, with the smaller 40mm variation coming in at S$448 and S$548. Interested parties can also get their hands on the new products on Lazada, Shopee and/or Amazon Singapore.

The Watch 5 Pro, meanwhile, is priced at S$698 and S$798 in either the Black Titanium or Gray Titanium colorways. By comparison, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro will set you back by S$328, with three different iterations up for grabs: Graphite, White, and Bora Purple.
