Sam Raimi To Debut Exclusive The Grudge Footage At New York Comic-Con

Sony Pictures has just announced that they will be having a panel for their upcoming reboot of the Japanese horror classic The Grudge at next month’s New York Comic-Con and the film’s producer Sam Raimi will be making his very first New York Comic-Con debut there.

Prior to filming the Spider-Man trilogy in the early 2000s, Raimi first made a name for himself as a horror filmmaker with films such as The Evil Dead along with its horror-comedy sequels Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness. Though he has not filmed a horror movie since 2009’s Drag Me to Hell, Reimi has served as the producer to a number of recent horror films such as 2016’s Don’t Breath and 2019’s Crawl

Raimi’s upcoming The Grudge will be a reboot of The Grudge franchise which first started in 2004, and is in turn based on the Japanese Ju-On horror franchise.

The release date for the reboot was pushed back from June 21, 2019, to January 3, 2020. As of now, it does not look like the release date will be pushed back any further.

Sony’s The Grudge panel will take place on Thursday, October 3 at 4pm EST (4am, October 4), on the Main Stage at the Javits Center.

Accompanying Raimi will be the film’s director, Nicolas Pesce, and cast members Betty Gilpin (GLOW) and Lin Shaye (Insidious). They should also be presenting the very first footages from The Grudge during the panel presentation.
