Respawn Confirms That Apex Legends Cross-Play Will Happen… Eventually

A frequently asked question since Respawn released their very own free-to-play battle royale game, Apex Legends, was if cross-play support across devices and platforms will be possible.

And according to the developers, it will be happening — they are just not sure exactly when.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Respawn’s lead producer Drew McCoy confirmed that support for cross playing in Apex Legends is in the works. He added that the developers plan “to allow players to play with their friends on other platforms” at some point in the future.

However, despite the possibility of cross-platform play happening sometime in the future, it seems that your account and progress will still be restricted to the platform you are playing on, be it PC, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One.

In the same interview with Eurogamer, McCoy explained that cross-progress and cross-purchases are something that will never be available in the game due to the way the game’s systems were set up early on in development.

Since its release, Apex Legends has had a strong showing, garnering more than 10 million players just three days after its release. The game has also become the most viewed on gaming live-streaming network Twitch.
