Recreating Avatar: The Last Airbender In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

“Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked.”

Despite closing the final chapter of its journey in 2008, Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender continues to age well, with the above introduction becoming one of the most iconic opening lines in pop culture today. With the recent revival of the series on Netflix in US, it seems the love for the Gaang (Aang and the gang) remains strong, as the bout of nostalgia prompted fans to recreate their favourite character outfits and scenes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Avatar: The Last Airbender won’t be the show we all came to love without its colourful character cast. In a show of tribute, creative minds have come together to spawn a line of costumes inspired by different characters, which runs the gamut from the main quartet of Aang, Zuko, Toph, and Katara, and sidekicks like Sokka, to the contemptible (but well-written) villain Azula. Even Appa, Aang’s flying bison, and Momo, a winged lemur, got their very own designs. Neat.

Should you decide to go with a more general outfit that’s not specific to any character, creator Torrance offers five options, each themed after a nation (or in the case of the Kyoshi Warriors, an island) in the show.

Creative, accurate-tailored outfits aren’t the only ones running the show, however. Some players have taken a step further to bring iconic moments and locations in Avatar: The Last Airbender to their islands, which make for a delightful sight.

Or a bittersweet memory. Iroh’s poignant scene in Book II of the animated series never ceases to hurt, and this in-game tribute does a good job at capturing the emotions of the original. In the background, a song fills the air, “Leaves from the vine, falling so slow. Like fragile tiny shells, drifting in the foam…”

Creativity has been rife since Animal Crossing: New Horizons dropped, and it’s always a joy to see players harness it for their own passion projects. The creations for Avatar: The Last Airbender may not be as numerous as that of other fandoms, but the shared love comes through strongly. Alternatively, you can consider mixing up your wardrobe, and bring in outfits from another universe:
