Prime Video’s ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ Reboot Series Aims For Feb 2024 Debut

Prime Video‘s eagerly-awaited espionage series, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, has a new release date post the resolution of the SAG-AFTRA strike. Originally set for November, Amazon Studios, in September, announced a delay to next year. The good news is that fans won’t have to wait too long, as Mr. & Mrs. Smith is now slated to premiere on Prime Video on 2 February 2024.

This reimagined series puts a spin on the beloved 2005 movie — depicting the couple, played by Donald Glover (Solo: A Star Wars Story) and Maya Erskine (PEN15), already aware of each other’s deadly professions as they enter into a marriage arranged by a mysterious agency. The mission involves them not only getting married but staying married to enhance believability as they navigate high-stakes assignments one episode at a time. However, things start becoming complicated when they start to develop real feelings for each other.

Starring a talented cast that also includes Michaela Coel (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), John Turturro (The Batman), Parker Posey (Dazed and Confused), and Wagner Moura (Narcos), the series was co-created by Glover and Francesca Sloane (who has collaborated with Glover on Atlanta). Despite Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny) departure due to creative differences, she has offered her endorsement to the series.

All eight episodes of Mr. & Mrs. Smith will debut on Prime Video on 2 February 2024.
