The trailer showcases flashes of various video game clips spanning PlayStation’s history, each tied to a caption concerning their themes. God of War, for example, has the phrase “It’s about family”, while Ghost of Tsushima and Uncharted are tied to “courage” and “adventure” respectively.

Most interestingly, the Bloodborne segment closes out the trailer, with a previously scheduled maintenance period for the game alongside the 30th anniversary celebrations leading fans to believe this isn’t a mere coincidence and that a major announcement is on the way.

As expected, fan theory has been abuzz in the trailer’s comment section, with users posting statements such as “That Bloodborne clip has a double meaning. They know we’ve been asking!” and “that Bloodborne graphics is not regular bb”, referring to the difference in lighting in the trailer as compared to the original game, sparking speculation of an unannounced updated port for the PS5.

A screenshot of the clip has also shot up to the top of the game’s Reddit page, with over 11,000 upvotes at the time of writing, with many believing that the accompanying caption was Sony’s play on rewarding fan’s “persistence” by unveiling the long-awaited and much-requested sequel to the 2015 FromSoftware classic.

In any case, fans will have to wait and see if their speculations prove true. Sony has also marked its 30th-anniversary celebrations by releasing classic console-themed backgrounds and start-up screens for the PS5.
