PlayStation 5 DualSense Controller Gets Sudden Price Hike

Sony has quietly raised the price of the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller worldwide.

Despite having no official announcement from the publisher, multiple retailers including official Sony stores, Amazon, and Best Buy have reflected an increase in US$5 for all DualSense colorways. In Singapore, the standard DualSense colours White, Black, Violet Red, Hot Pink, Rebecca Purple, Sky Blue and Grey now cost S$107, with premium colours Red, Neon Blue and Silver retailing for S$114.

This marks the latest price bump related to Sony’s console, with the prices of the PlayStation 5 and its accessories getting a price bump in Japan earlier this month, citing “recent challenging external environment, including the current fluctuations in the global economic situation, and the impact it will have on (Sony’s) business.”

The news comes on the same day as a technical presentation livestream hosted by PlayStation lead architect Mark Cerny. Airing on 10 September 2024 at 11pm SGT, the stream is rumoured to focus on the launch of the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 Pro.
