Leaked PS5 Pro Specs Indicate 2024 Holiday Launch

Specifications for the PlayStation 5 (PS5) Pro have been leaked, and Insider Gaming claims to confirm their authenticity. The details hint at a late 2024 holiday season or potentially early 2025 release, and will give the PS5 some much-needed upgrades.

YouTube channel Moore’s Law Is Dead leaked the news in a video showing confidential documents relating to the console, codenamed Trinity, which included faster rendering, 2-3x ray-tracing, PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling, and an AI Accelerator, supporting 300 TOPS of 8 bit computation / 67 TFLOPS of 16-bit floating point, among other new features.

The console’s apparent improvement in ray-tracing performance could shift the focus for game studios, revolutionising the future of the game industry, but we’ll have to wait and see just how effective the new system is.

Insider Gaming claims to have “shared documentation from the developer portal under the condition that it’s not shared publically or privately” and that “devkits have been available to first-party studios since September 2023, and third-party since January 2024.”

Tentatively, the PS5 Pro is rumoured to release during the 2024 holiday season, so make your Christmas wishlists early.
