PlatinumGames Announces New Giant Hero Action Game Project GG

Bayonetta developer PlantinumGames has announced its newest upcoming action game, Project GG. According to the studio’s director Hideki Kamiya, the game will be a “giant step” for the studio as it’ll be the first original property developed and published solely by PlatinumGames.

A spiritual successor to Viewtiful Joe and The Wonderful 101, Project GG (a working title) will be a “giant hero” action game that’ll have our protagonist transforming into a giant to fight kaijus.

“Where Viewtiful Joe is Kamen Rider-esque in that one guy transforms into a hero, and The Wonderful 101 is more like a group of people transforming into heroes, Project GG is a giant hero-esque title,” Kamiya confirmed in the latest issue of the Weekly Famitsu magazine (via Gematsu).

He added that “while its feel as an action game is important, it is not a game solely focused on action”.

Currently, there is no confirmed release date for Project GG as Kamiya states that “the finish line is still a long way away”. PlatinumGames is also planning to launch the game on all existing platforms which means mobile gamers might also get to play the game

Project GG is the second of four-game announcements teased by the studio as part of the Platinum 4. The first game announced was The Wonderful 101: Remastered.
