Epic Games Store is ushering in the festive season with a generous helping of daily free games on top of some great discounts (up to 75 percent!) from 17 December onwards, but before that, Obsidian Entertainment’s role-playing titles Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny are available for pick up at zero cost.
Neither of them are going to be released as standard editions, either. Instead, the gaming platform will be giving away the Definitive Edition and Gold Edition respectively, which means extra content for free. The former includes both The White March: Parts I & II expansions, new regions, and a higher level cap, while the latter adds the Bastard’s Wound and Tales From the Tiers DLC packs.
Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny take on a slower, more isometric strategic approach as opposed to the frenetic pace in recent titles. In a similar vein as its predecessors Baldur’s Gate and Planescape: Torment, Pillars of Eternity features a party-based real-time-with pause tactical gameplay, two-dimensional pre-rendered backdrops, and character classes, whereas Tyranny frames the game from a villain’s point of view with similar elements.
Nothing like welcoming the Epic Games Store Holiday Sale with some classic RPG love. Stay classy.
