Disney has released a second trailer for Peter Pan & Wendy, and boy are we hooked.
The story of Peter Pan and the Lost Boys of Neverland have been told several times. Some of the versions saw Peter growing up and having children of his own, whilst others delved deep into his origin. One version even made him Alice’s (from Alice in Wonderland) sibling.
Out of all the remakes we’ve seen, Disney’s Peter Pan & Wendy looks like its the closest to the original novel by J.M. Barrie. In this version of the story, Wendy seems to be concerned with big life changes and having some internal conflict. This reimagining even gave Wendy a sword to fight and protect her brothers from the Captain Hook, who finally makes his big debut.
Acclaimed actor Jude Law has been attached to play the villain Captain Hook since July 2020 and since then, fans have been wanting a glimpse of him as the character. This trailer gave viewers a good look at Law as the villain and treats fans with some action scenes of Captain Hook duelling with Peter too!
The movie’s synopsis reads:
“Peter Pan & Wendy introduces Wendy Darling, a young girl looking to avoid boarding school who meets Peter Pan, a boy who refuses to grow up. Alongside her brothers and a tiny fairy, Tinker Bell, she travels with Peter to the magical world of Neverland. There, she encounters an evil pirate captain, Captain Hook, and embarks on a thrilling and dangerous adventure that will change her life forever.”
The film stars Law, Alexander Molony, Ever Anderson, Yara Shahidi, Alyssa Wapanatâhk, Joshua Pickering, Jacobi Jupe, Molly Parker, Alan Tudyk, and Jim Gaffigan. David Lowery of The Green Knight fame directed it.
Peter Pan & Wendy will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on 28 April.
