Oppo has announced the upcoming global launch of its next smartphone flagship, the Find X9 Ultra, which marks a game-changer in the industry, specifically with regards to its camera, thanks to its true 10x optical zoom technology.
Ahead of its global launch event on 21 April, Oppo has also unveiled more information on how it achieved this feat. While most conventional smartphones usually cap their optical zoom levels at 4x or 5x due to space constraints within the smartphone chassis, the Find X9 Ultra has found a way to overcome this limitation thanks to its Quintuple Prism Reflection Periscope Structure.
By bouncing light through five separate reflections, the device’s unique lens setup achieves true 10x optical zoom while reducing its camera module length by 30%, allowing for a built-in 10x lens while still maintaining the device’s sleek form factor.
Additionally, this feature is further complemented by Oppo’s Pristine Optical Path Architecture. According to Oppo, this system consists of a prism that is crafted from three precision pieces separated by a nanometer-scale diaphragm and a specialised air capsule, which works to ensure that image data hitting the sensor is as pure as possible, allowing for the Find X9 Ultra to produce high-quality photos even from such an extended range.
Dubbed the Hasselblad 50MP 10x Ultra-Sensing Optical-Zoom Telephoto, the camera system will also compensate for the magnified shakiness when using such far-ranged zoom technologies with Oppo’s newly engineered Sensor Shift optical stabilisation system, which further helps to ensure the clarity of shots. Furthermore, in addition to its groundbreaking 10x optical zoom, the Find X9 Ultra is also set to feature an industry-first 20x optical-quality zoom, further cementing the device’s photography prowess and flexibility.
