NYCC 2025 Marvel Panel Recap: X-Men ’97’, ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, ‘VisionQuest’, And More!

New York Comic-Con (NYCC) 2025 has come and gone, following a slew of updates and announcements on upcoming projects from comic book juggernauts, including Marvel Comics. But that doesn’t mean non-comic fans are left out of the excitement, as a Marvel Television and Animation panel unveiled the studio’s upcoming slate for Disney+ during the event, alongside various details ranging from release dates to story specifics.

While Wonder Man was the only show to receive a public trailer and an exact release date, Daredevil: Born Again, VisionQuest, X-Men ’97, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man all had their fair share of the spotlight, with attendees treated to an exclusive first look on the showfloor.

Here’s a recap of everything that went down during the presentation at NYCC 2025, which took place from 9 to 12 October.

Daredevil: Born Again

The second season of Daredevil: Born Again will see Jessica Jones back on the case, and the footage gives a clear glimpse of Krysten Ritter’s return as the former Defenders member. It opens with a romantic moment between Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) in an apartment until an explosion triggers the former’s senses, before showing missing posters of him and Jones coming to his aid.

As the Man Without Fear continues to recruit more allies, Kingpin / Wilson Fisk is seen pummelling a man in a boxing ring, with shots of Wilson Bethel’s Bullseye eating a sundae at a dinner, Fisk and his wife Vanessa at dinner, and Daredevil in his black outfit fighting the bad guys, alongside a flashback to Foggy Nelson, who died in the first season.

Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again is expected to debut in early 2026, coinciding with the start of filming for Season 3.

VisionQuest

Breaking an extended period of radio silence, VisionQuest is set to be a homecoming for several familiar faces. The live-action WandaVision spin-off stars Paul Bettany, who played Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), as White Vision, seen entering a mansion in human form in the early footage. There, he meets human incarnations of various AI characters under the guise of servants, including Jarvis, his replacement Friday, and Edith, the AI programme from Tony Stark’s sunglasses in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

The kicker, though, is the return of Ultron (previously killed by Red Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron) — now in human form and with a bushy beard — and the reveal of Tommy Maximoff, known as Speed in the comics, as White Vision’s son.

VisionQuest airs sometime in 2026, with James Spader reprising his role as Ultron.

Wonder Man

It’s meta overload in the trailer for Wonder Man, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as struggling actor Simon Williams, who hopes to land the title role in a film reboot of the classic superhero adventure titled, well, Wonder Man.

“Why one more superhero film? Everyone is tired of superheroes. Why go see them in the cinema? Wonder Man spoke to me on a deep level. There is an opportunity to shock audiences. To reimagine the whole genre of storytelling,” expresses “internationally celebrated and reclusive” director Von Kovak in an in-universe interview, to which the interviewer then asks, “Have you thought about casting?”.

Directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton, the eight-episode series will debut on 27 January.

X-Men ’97

Picking up from the first season, X-Men ’97 is set to herald the arrival of Apocalypse in his classic outfit for its sophomore outing, with Bishop gathering fellow X-Men members Wolverine (in his classic brown supersuit, to boot!), Cyclops, Jean Grey, Jubilee, and Nightcrawler on a journey back to the 1990s.

Season 2 is slated for release in Summer 2026, while a third season is in development.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

Fans of Marvel’s resident webcrawler can expect more old faces — allies and adversaries alike — in Season 2 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, extending to Venom, Gwen Stacy, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil (albeit in a new shiny red suit), Norman and Harry Osborn, Doctor Octopus, Chameleon, Scorpion, and more.

Hudson Thames returns to voice Peter Parker, a different version of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU, who seems to be in a more traditional costume here. The second season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man swings onto the small screen in Fall 2026.
