Explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate – the fundamental principles of the aptly named 4X strategy video game genre, one championed by Sid Meier’s Civilization franchise, a long-running series of nation-building experiences created to fulfil players’ fantasies of becoming a leader of an empire.
Civilization VII marks the latest evolution of the franchise, providing not only the core 4X experience fans will know and love, but also propelling the series in a bold new direction with unprecedented levels of flexibility and accessibility for returning players and newcomers alike.
Civilization has always been known for its sense of scale, and the same rings true for the game’s exclusive Collector’s Kit, a substantial spread of goodies not available for purchase by the general public.
Here’s everything included in the Sid Meier’s Civilization VII media kit:
- Archaeological Excavation Kit with Collector’s Coin
- Seal of Victory wax stamp with carrying case
- Chrono Compass
- Civilization VII poster
- Civilization VII-themed desk mat

As the set’s most interactive element, the Archaeological Excavation Kit consists of a rectangular engraved block, which can be chiselled into to reveal a Civilization collector’s coin, itself intricately designed with the logos of the game’s multiple civilisations, its four paths to victory, and the three new Ages.
Other highlights include the Chrono compass, boasting a design mirroring that of a maritime brass sundial compass used in times long gone. It’s not just for show too, providing a functional compass that can be opened similarly to how it was used in the past, with a magnetic needle that can be locked into place when not in use. Alongside the collector’s coin and the hefty engraved Seal of Victory wax stamp, these collectibles make up a display piece well-suited for any budding explorer.
Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is set to release on 11 February 2025 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
