Nicolas Cage Swings Into Live-Action Spider-Man Noir Series At Amazon

Amazon has officially ordered Spider-Man Noir to series, and Nicolas Cage will star as the titular character, as the live-action TV show swings into gear. The character first appeared in the Spider-Man: Into The Spider Verse, along with the other members of the Spider-Society, and has since become a fan-favourite.

While no official title or supporting cast has been unveiled, we do have a synopsis: “Noir tells the story of an aging and down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York,” an official description says, “who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.”

“We are absolutely thrilled to have Nicolas Cage starring in this series! No one else could bring such pathos, pain, and heart to this singular character,” remarked Sony president Katherine Pope.

It looks like we’ll be seeing a darker, gritter portrayal of Spider-Man Noir, if that short description is anything to go by, but will it be in black and white? It’s anyone’s guess, until we get more details on the show.

The untitled show sees Oren Uziel (The Cloverfield Paradox, 2021’s Mortal Kombat) as writer and executive producer, alongside Into the Spider-Verse producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and former Sony boss Amy Pascal.
