New Set Photos For Black Widow Movie Reveals Possible Movie Timeline And Supervillain

Production for the long-awaited Black Widow movie is finally underway and while we have heard news pertaining to the casts for the movie, not much else was known about the film, till now.

Photos taken from the set have been posted on Twitter and now we have a little more idea as to what might possibly happen in the movie.

The photos feature Black Widow driving a 2017 BMW 5 Series Touring Wagen, a car that will be six years old during the events of Avengers: Endgame. Because of corporate partnerships, the MCU films usually showcase new (and even not-yet-released) vehicles, usually as not-so-subtle product placements. So choosing a 2017 BMW is out of the norm, unless the film is taking place in that specific time period.

This places the events in the Black Widow movie possibly in between Captain America: Civil War (2016) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018).

From what we know, Natasha Romanoff and Steve Rogers were on the run following the events of Civil War, where the both of them became enemies of the state after failing to comply with the Sokovia Accords. If Black Widow takes place in between Civil War and Infinity War, does that mean we will also get to see Steve Rogers one more time?

There is also growing speculation that Florence Pugh will be introduced as Yelena Belova, the one to take up the mantle of Black Widow, in the movie. As we do not see her at all in Infinity War and Endgame, she might have been the 50% that got snapped off. The appearance of Yelena might also mean we’ll get a deeper look into Natasha’s backstory and her time with the Red Room.

CBR also noted in the photos, it seems that Natasha is being pursued by an antagonist donning a suit of armour and wearing a backpack. Though it is not confirmed, it seems that the villain will be the mysterious mercenary known as Taskmaster. Other possible villains the character could be includes the Prowler, Darkhawk, or… the Blue Power Ranger.

Black Widow stars Scarlett Johansson and is expected to release on May 1, 2020.
