New Iron Man Game By EA Motive Is First Of Many Upcoming Marvel Titles

In entertainment, superheroes continue to be a prominent fixture whether you are watching them on the big screen or in the comfort of your own homes. The same can be said on the video game side of things, and it’s about to get busier with the reveal of a new Iron Man game courtesy of EA Motive Studio and Marvel Entertainment.

Announced in a new blog post, the all-new single-player, third-person, action-adventure Iron Man video game is still early in development, with the team behind led by Olivier Proulx, who previously worked on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Supporting him is a dedicated team of passionate industry veterans, including Ian Frazier, Maëlenn Lumineau, and JF Poirier.

As the announcement shared, the game is “developed in collaboration with Marvel Games” and will “feature an original narrative that taps into the rich history of Iron Man, channelling the complexity, charisma, and creative genius of Tony Stark, and enabling players to feel what it’s like to truly play as Iron Man.”

“It’s an honour and privilege to have the opportunity to make a video game based on one of the most iconic Super Heroes in entertainment today,” said Proulx about the Iron Man project. “We have a great opportunity to create a new and unique story that we can call our own. Marvel is encouraging us to create something fresh. We have a lot of freedom, which is so engaging for the team.”

“We are thrilled to collaborate with the talented team at Motive Studio to bring their original vision of one of Marvel’s most important, powerful and beloved characters,” said Bill Rosemann, Vice President and Creative Director at Marvel Games. “Their experience delivering both established entertainment worlds and thrilling gameplay — combined with their authentic passion for the armoured icon — will fuel our quest to deliver a love letter to a legendary hero in the form of the ultimate Iron Man video game.”

Considering that EA Motive is also busy with the upcoming Dead Space remake, it will likely be a long while before we even see this new Iron Man game. For those that were lamenting the loss of an open-world experience starring Tony Stark that was being developed by Avalanche Studios, this will be a good compromise to look forward to.

This will also be the first of several new games in the collaboration between Marvel and Electronic Arts, so be prepared to see more in the coming years. As for Iron Man fans, you can keep yourself busy in the meantime with your own 24-inch model of the old shellhead or spruce up the home with some themed appliances.
