New Crysis Game Teased Via Surprise Cryptic Tweet

Just when many thought that the Crysis franchise was already long dead, it looks as though devs Crytek might have other plans.

Recently, the official Twitter account for the game, which hasn’t been active since December 2016, posted a cryptic Tweet with just two words: “RECEIVING DATA”.

This no doubt sent the gaming community into a frenzy, wondering just what on earth the folks at Crytek could be up to.

The last game in the franchise, Crysis 3, launched in 2013. Given that there were seven full years since the game launched, and three since the social media account’s last post, there is no denial that the devs are working on something.

And despite the general mediocrity of the the second and third games, the futuristic shooter trilogy was generally met with praise, especially when it came to the technical side of things. To this day, Crysis 3 remains near the top of many gaming PC and laptop benchmarking tests, which testifies its achievements as a technical marvel.

Whatever it is, this is definitely not an April Fools’ joke, as we’re already two weeks into April at the time of writing. Be it a reboot or brand-new sequel, we’re just hoping that Crytek isn’t just leading us on.
