Come 2022, Fox Entertainment will finally have its very first fully owned adult animated series and it will be produced by none other than the co-creator of Rick and Morty himself, Dan Harmon.
According to Deadline, Harmon has signed a broadcast network-only exclusive direct animation deal with Fox and under the deal, Harmon will be tasked with creating and developing an animated comedy series that is slated to hit the network sometime in 2022.
Fox Entertainment will produce the animated series with the Fox-owned Bento Box Entertainment (Bob’s Burger) serving as the animation studio on the project.
Fox has been doubling down on their efforts to expand further into adult animation these past couples of years, having gone from three animated series (The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Bob’s Burger) to adding several new series to its roster, which includes Bless the Harts, Duncanville, and the upcoming Housebroken.
Harmon has certainly proven his ability to create great animated series, with Rick and Morty being one of the most popular animated series in the past few years. It even won Harmon an Emmy in 2018 for Outstanding Animated Programme.
Not much else is known about the Dan Harmon animated series as of yet.
