Netflix’s The Witcher Season 3 Quietly Teased With Production Slated To Run Through 2021

It looks as though Henry Cavill and crew are set for a busy couple of months ahead. While they are still shooting Season 2 of The Witcher on Netflix, it looks like they might also be filming Season 3 while they’re at it too.

Though a third season wasn’t previously in the cards, Redanian Intelligence reports that it the narrative has changed, thanks to a listing on the Writers Guild of America. Tied to the name of the potential Season 3 is showrunner and creator Lauren Hissrich, which all but confirms the continuation of Geralt of Rivia’s adventures beyond Season 2.

Shooting two seasons back to back makes sense given how unpredictable the nature of production can be these days, with the COVID-19 pandemic still very much slowing things to a crawl and even causing current cast members to depart from the show due to conflicting schedules. However, it would also make sense for Netflix to pace out the release of Seasons 2 and 3, so it might mean that Season 3 could only premiere in 2022.

In any case, more of The Witcher is always a good thing for its fans.

And speaking of which, two spinoff shows based on the show are in the making as well, including The Witcher: Blood Origin, a live-action prequel miniseries about the very first Witcher, and The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, a prequel animated movie centered around Geralt’s mentor and friend, Vesemir.
