It’s been a while since we’ve heard of Season 3 of the Castlevania animated series on Netflix. But as it turns out, we may just have been set up for a 2020 premiere!
A recent cryptic Tweet by the show’s writer and co-creator Warren Ellis stated that the dev team was “just finishing something up” for Castlevania Season 3, showing the familiar opening slate for the series. Here it is:
Though Ellis didn’t specify just what we’re seeing, we clearly are treated to a sneak preview of Castlevania Season 3. Ellis’ excitement echoes that of the show’s animation studio, Powerhouse Animation, who also posted another cryptic Tweet regarding the show’s potential release:
Those vampire emojis can’t have been used for no reason, especially now that Ellis has come out with a teaser of his own.
While we don’t exactly have any official visuals yet, we do know that Season 3 will consist of 10 episodes, which is a significant mark-up from the first and second seasons (4 and 8 episodes respectively). Here’s the new season’s official synopsis:
Trevor Belmont, last survivor of his house, is no longer alone, and he and his misfit comrades race to find a way to save humanity from extinction at the hands of the grief-maddened Dracula and his sinister vampire war council.
Now that Warren Ellis and Powerhouse Animation have dropped such huge hints, many will no doubt be agonising over when exactly Castlevania Season 3 will release this year.
The show’s producer and co-creator Adi Shankar has also been reported to be currently working on a Hyper Light Drifter TV series.
