Netflix & The Duffer Brothers’ Supernatural Mystery ‘The Boroughs’ Casts Alfred Molina & Geena Davis

The Boroughs, an upcoming Netflix mystery series produced by The Duffer Brothers of Stranger Things fame, has added six to its star-studded cast: Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Bill Pullman, Denis O’Hare and Clarke Peters. This was first reported in Variety.

The eight-episode series, greenlit by Netflix in April 2023, will be helmed by showrunners Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews. According to the series’ logline, the show takes place ‘in a seemingly picturesque retirement community in the New Mexico desert, where a group of — you guessed it — unlikely heroes must band together to stop an otherworldly threat from stealing the one thing they don’t have: time.

Alfred Molina is most well known for playing Doc Ock in the Spider-Man films and his roles in Frida and Boogie Nights. Geena Davis has appeared in films like Thelma & Louise, Beetlejuice and the Netflix series GLOW. Alfre Woodard starred in the Netflix-Marvel series Luke Cage, and Cross Creek, for which she received an Academy Award nomination. Bill Pullman is known for films such as Independence Day and Spaceballs. Denis O’Hare is best known for his roles in American Horror Story. Clarke Peters starred in Netflix’s Da 5 Bloods and HBO’s The Wire.

The Boroughs marks the latest project on the Duffer Brothers’ plate, as the duo are in the midst of shooting the final season of Stranger Things. Their other projects also include the Olivier Award-winning play Stranger Things: The First Shadow and the upcoming Netflix horror series Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen.
