‘Monster Hunter Wilds’ Breaks Another Capcom Record By Selling 8 Million Copies In 3 Days

The immense success of Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds just keeps getting better, as the title has broken yet another record less than a week after its release on 28 February, surpassing eight million copies sold in just three days and making it the fastest title to reach this milestone in the company’s history.

As reported by an official Capcom press release, this achievement has set a new standard for the Monster Hunter series, with sales figures towering above that set by its predecessors, Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter World, which both sold five million copies in a similar timeframe.

The title has been steadily gaining momentum ever since its massive launch last week, which made it Capcom’s biggest launch ever with over one million concurrent players on Steam, even helping the platform cross its 40 million concurrent player milestone too. As this figure only considered player counts on PC and did not include a huge chunk of its fanbase across the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, its staggering sales figures should come as no surprise.

Leveraging on its success, Capcom seems determined to keep the hype going by providing early details on the game’s first major patch, which is due out in early April. Title Update 1 is set to bring a host of new content to the game, including an additional challenging monster with a level above Tempered and a community hub where players can “meet, communicate [and] have meals together”, which will be available after the completion of its main story.

Monster Hunter Wilds’ success is no doubt attributed to its focus on refining the systems that its fans have come to know and love, while fine tuning the game to be one of the most accessible titles in the franchise in order to entice newcomers to give it a shot, and by all accounts, this strategy has paid off spectacularly. The game was released on 28 February for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
