Microsoft’s Xbox Series X May Feature Expandable Storage

Although we are sure that the next generation of consoles will hit the market before the end of 2020, the details surrounding both Sony’s PS5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X still remain hazy. From a cloak-and-dagger pricing debate to the different features, more shall be revealed in the coming months.

One potential discovery comes via Thurrott, which reported that the leak of the Series X, which showed us the different ports on the system, includes a slot for CFExpress SSD cards.

The possibility of expandable storage is not a remote one, considering how big games are getting. Add to that the growth of the digital marketplace and the subscription service of Xbox Game Pass, and storage becomes a premium. A powerful and fast SSD upgrade will only make your Xbox Series X better.

The only sticking point will be price, with current CBFExpress cards selling for up to US$599.99 for the 512 GB variant. Perhaps Microsoft will be looking at creating their own solutions, but we will have to wait and find out if Microsoft continues on their quest against their rivals and competitors.
