When the developers at Insomniac Games included the “Be Yourself” tagline for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, they probably didn’t mean in it in a literal sense. But as it turns out, that seems to be the case.
Players who are playing the game at this moment have recently been recording instances of a glitch that turns Miles Morales into an inanimate object. This includes (but is probably not limited to):
- A rubbish bin
- A cardboard box
- A lamp
- A fridge
- A steel barrier
- A brick
- A cigarette butt stand
- And yes, even a literal freeze-frame of a splash of water.
Here are the various Tweets shared by members of the community on just how hilarious (or awesome) Miles looks while swinging around Manhattan as these items (thanks, Polygon):
Currently, Insomniac Games has yet to provide an answer or a hotfix for this graphical glitch. But for what it’s worth, the community considers this a happy problem, with some even going so far as to plead the devs into making some of these glitches into official skins.
In this day and age, anything’s possible. Just look at the iconic tofu skin in Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 remake in 2019. Hope you’re taking pointers, Insomniac!
Marion has a serious RPG addiction. Sometimes it bleeds into real life; he forgets to sleep because he thinks he has a Witcher’s body clock. Forgive him in advance if he suddenly blurts out terms such as “Mind Flayer” and “Magic Missile”, because never once does he stop thinking about his next Dungeons & Dragons game.
