‘Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’ Due For PS5 In October, Gives First Look At Venom

Miles Morales and Peter Parker will be swinging to PS5 on 20 October, as Insomniac Games has confirmed the launch date for its highly-anticipated Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. A new trailer for the game, unveiled during Summer Game Fest, teases a delightful time in store, alongside an exciting first look at Venom.

While the symbiote’s appearance has been hinted at for a while now, there wasn’t any official information to go on until now. The concept art shows Venom off in all his menacing, fearsome glory in a way that’s reminiscent of Treyarch’s Web of Shadows game, but there’s a catch: his identity is being kept under wraps. According to creative director Bryan Intihar, Eddie Brock won’t in the suit here, as the studio wanted to tell an original story that’s different than what fans may be expecting.

In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, players will be able to play as both Miles and Peter, and control both of them at different points in the campaign. Each Spidey has stories and missions exclusive to them, but individuals can switch nearly instantly between the two in the open world when they swing through Manhatten, Queens, and Brooklyn. The Lizard and Kraven are also confirmed as villains alongside Venom, with both Spider-People sporting their own symbiote outfits.

Additionally, the PlayStation Blog also revealed preorder bonus and collector’s editions. The Digital Deluxe edition includes the game, all the preorder premiums, 10 unique suits (five for Peter, five for Miles), extra Photo Mode frames and stickers, and two additional skill points.

The Collector’s Edition, meanwhile, features all of those, along with a steelbook case and a 19-inch statue of Peter and Miles fighting Venom. Pre-orders start on 16 June, and will include two early unlock suits (Peter’s Arachknight Suit and Miles’ Shadow-Spider Suit), three colour variants each, a web grabber gadget, and three additional skill points.
