Marvel Exec Reveals Nova Plans, Addresses Disney’s New Approach To Projects

After Marvel first teased the superhero’s appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in 2018, fans have been eagerly awaiting Nova’s live-action debut. Not only did Marvel executive Brad Winderbaum confirm that a Nova TV show or movie is in early development, but also revealed that Disney would take on a new approach with its future projects.

We have a new system behind-the-scenes at Marvel Studios. We’re more like a traditional studio now. We’re developing more than we actually will produce,” said Winderbaum in a move that will see change come to the MCU’s development. He went on to confirm that “We are in really early development on Nova… I love Nova, too. I love Rich Rider, too. I hope it gets to the screen.”

Nova, or Richard Rider, is a member of the Nova Corps, who inherits his abilities when the last surviving Centurion of the planet Xandar’s elite Nova Corps transfers his power to him. The Nova Corps were first introduced into the MCU in Guardians of the Galaxy, and a movie or show has some material to work with in-universe.

The earliest we could see a Nova show is after the MCU’s current Phase Five wraps up in 2025, and the studio announces its sixth phase, so fans will have to wait a little longer to see the superhero show up in the MCU.
