Mario Strikers: Battle League To Kick Off On The Nintendo Switch On 10 June

As part of the big Nintendo Direct that happened earlier in the day, a brand new soccer game starring everyone’s favourite Italian plumber is on the way. That’s right, the Nintendo Switch will soon welcome Mario Strikers: Battle League to the family this coming 10 June.

Just like Super Mario Strikers, this new title will feature 5v5 regular football matches but with the added spice of items and special shots involved for the various characters that are available in the game.

Scoring a goal is always fun, but if you are looking to gain the biggest advantage over your opponents, then utilising the Hyper Shot will be key in Mario Strikers: Battle League. Scoring with such a shot will see two goals chalked up instead of one, so knowing when to grab the special orb on the pitch will definitely make for some interesting battles all over.

In addition, the game will feature a gear system that can be used to enhance characters both aesthetically and functionally. The trailer gave us a sneak peek, such as Mario donning on metal armour that sees a boost in his strength, or even lighter armour that has a focus on his passing stat instead.

Mario Strikers: Battle League will support up to 8 players for multiplayer locally on just one Nintendo Switch console. There will also be online play, which includes a Club mode that can see players join up and compete globally as a team.

With it being 17 years since the last football game that Mario and gang have starred in, Mario Strikers: Battle League will hopefully live up to expectations and keep the ball rolling for future entries.

If you have not yet bought yourself a Nintendo Switch, now would really be a great time to do so, with excellent games both past and future awaiting you on the portable powerhouse.
