Director George Miller, celebrated for his innovative filmmaking, recently expressed his enthusiasm for working with Chris Hemsworth, star of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. In an interview with CBR, Miller praised Hemsworth’s wide-ranging acting abilities and even hinted at a possible collaboration for Thor 5.
Furiosa, a prequel to Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road, features Hemsworth in a strikingly different role as the villain Dementus. Reflecting on their work together, Miller remarked, “I would work with Chris on anything. I really would. He’s a wonderful actor. He’s got the full range of all the skills,” noting the physical, emotional, and intellectual demands of the roles Hemsworth tackles.
This positive working relationship may lead to future collaborations. Miller shared his openness to direct the fifth instalment of the Thor series, a prospect that gains weight as Hemsworth has also shown interest in continuing his journey with the Marvel character. “If an audience wants to see it, and if there’s something that we believe is exciting and fun, then great. I’ve loved being able to reinvent that character a few times. I don’t have the answer yet, but I would love to try and [figure out] how we can do that again and keep it a little unpredictable,” Hemsworth said in a Vanity Fair interview.
Hemsworth described Miller as not only a genius but also a director who significantly enhances the filming environment with his kindness and collaboration. “The whole crew, everyone is in a better mood. It baffles me that some people in that position don’t understand that,” Hemsworth added.
While there’s no official announcement yet for Thor 5, the potential for Miller’s involvement could bring a fresh perspective to the franchise. Hemsworth’s portrayal of Thor has evolved significantly across the series, and under Miller’s direction, Thor 5 could present yet another new angle for the Asgardian hero.
Meanwhile, audiences can anticipate seeing Hemsworth as Dementus in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, set to premiere on 24 May 2024.
